Crazy Ol' Me

Let me introduce myself, my name is Amanda and I am in my mid 20's. I am a wife and mama to a big black lab named Kelly. She loves to go on walks and cuddle with me on the couch while I knit.

I married the man of my dreams back in July 2006...we are living happily ever after.

I am a social bug and love people. I talk, talk, talk, talk. I can't seem to shut up.  I work as a waitress(thus the talking part and loving people) and I love every minute of it. Oh sure it has its moments just like everything in life does, but its the best job I have ever had. Next to being offered to work in a yarn store attached to a lovely cafe that serves me all the coffee I want. That would be sheer heaven! But since that hasn't happened yet, I will stick with  what I have.

I love creativity in all forms. Losing myself in music and dancing when I think no one is looking is one of my favorite things to do. I love to plop down on the couch and watch a good ole movie(usually a musical which Dear Husband thinks I am insane for doing) while grabbing my knitting needles to work on my latest project. Escaping into the world of fictional characters in books has been a long time passion of mine. While I do not get to read as much as I would like to, due to a crazy schedule and all those other projects I just love to do, I still enjoy what time I do get.

I became obsessed with knitting about four years ago. I decided I wanted to learn how to knit. I didn’t know about Yarn Shops and classes I could attend or about sites like Ravelry that you could join.  My quest to learn how to knit was a journey I took on my own. I went to Walmart and bought a set of needles and a Skein of yarn(didn’t know it was called a skein at the time), sat down and began studying the booklet I picked up that was going to teach me to knit. Thus began my knitting life. I am a self taught knitter, in the beginning anyway. Since then I have come to know a community of knitters and have gleaned much from them. The learning never ends and I am glad about that. To this day I do not know what possessed me to do this. Where the desire to suddenly knit came from. Perhaps I was stressed, perhaps I needed a creative outlet. Whatever the case I am so glad I was moved to learn, I can’t imagine my life without it now!

The rest of my craftiness seemed to flow from there. Knowing I can make something with a little ingenuity and my two hands fills me with pride. Operating on a puny budget doesn't hurt either. I get the chance to creative a lovely and unique look, nickel and dimming it all the way.

There you have it a little about me. Thank you so much for stopping by here and sharing in my craziness. You the reader is what makes all this fun and possible. You can contact me by clicking on the email icon with any questions or stories you wish to share with me. I would love to hear from you.
